SINGAPORE, 18 June 2020 – The 4 anchor exhibitions of the International Built Environment Week (IBEW) - BEX Asia, MCE Asia, SCB Asia and Innobuild Asia, will be postponed to September 2021 at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre, Singapore.
This decision was made following various consultations with industry experts, stakeholder associations, country pavilion organisers, key exhibitors and visitor groups. In view of the disruption to travel plans because of the global Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the Singapore Ministry of Health’s advice to defer large-scale events, (with a planned three-phased approach to opening up to resume activities safely), Reed Exhibitions has decided on postponement as the most prudent decision for all involved.
To continue to support the built environment industry ecosystem, Reed Exhibitions together with BCA, will be introducing a series of online webinars and virtual exhibitions for industry professionals. Taking place in September 2020, the webinars and conferences will allow industry professionals across various specialities to continue to learn about industry developments, be introduced to new products as well as network with each other virtually. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points will also be awarded for specific webinars, subject to final confirmation. The virtual exhibition will allow companies to present their latest products and solutions to a qualified list of buyers and specifiers. More information on registrations and schedules will be released to the industry over the coming weeks.
Michelle Lim, Managing Director, Reed Exhibitions, said, “The IBEW Exhibitions has been the leading Built Environment event for the region and prides itself on delivering strong business outcomes for exhibitors and visitors. Our exhibitors and pavilion partners have supported the postponement and provided commitment to return in 2021 and will work closely with us to deliver an outstanding exhibition next year. Despite the postponement, we are aware that there is still a need within the industry to stay informed of industry developments and to source for products. So we are excited at the prospect of connecting the industry via our webinars and virtual expo in 2020. We are also glad to have had continued support from Marina Bay Sands, which allowed us to secure the same award-winning venue for our events in 2021.”
Reed Exhibitions will extend necessary support to all exhibitors and visitors to facilitate a seamless transition to the new event dates. It will remain guided by advice from Singapore’s Ministry of Health and also by industry standards agreed upon by STB and the Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (SACEOS).
